Who doesn't love a nice warm drink on a cold winter day? Wintertime means snuggling up with a hot beverage of choice and taking a second to ourselves, it's self-care! But if you’re worried that the latest seasonal latte or a cup of decked-out hot chocolate will set you back on your journey, don't worry- we’ve compiled this list of diet-friendly beverages that are guaranteed to keep you snug, without packing on the calories, this winter.

 

Healthy Hot Cocoa

No winter drink list is complete without mentioning a classic hot chocolate. Hot chocolate is rich, indulgent and the winter drink of choice for many, however, for those looking to shed pounds- hot chocolate is not a go-to option…until now! We have the perfect recipe for a diet-friendly hot chocolate that delivers on taste.

Here's what you need:

1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk

1 tbsp unsweetened raw cacao

1 tsp maple syrup

1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract

1/4 tsp of salt (optional)

1 tsp stevia (optional)

How to make it:

Add almond milk to a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Stir in all the ingredients into warm almond milk. Stir for 2-3 minutes until ingredients are dissolved. Remove the saucepan from heat and pour the mixture into a mug- enjoy!

Spicy Coconut and Almond Golden Milk

Craving something spicy vs. indulgent? We have you covered! Golden milk is an Indian beverage that has gained popularity as of late. Here's what you need:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk

2 tbsp honey

1 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp ground ginger

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 ground black pepper

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

A pinch of cayenne pepper

A pinch of nutmeg

How to make it:

Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan. Heat the mixture and bring it to a simmer to ensure all ingredients have dissolved and properly combined. Remove from flame, pour into a mug and enjoy!

Combine the ginger and water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from the flame. Strain ginger pieces out or you can leave a few pieces in for a stronger ginger taste. Add honey and enjoy!
