Meet Vickie and How She Got Back on Her Horse

I’m Vickie, 65, a retired medical professional living in the eastern deserts of Washington. I consider myself an active grandmother, and I love to travel. Being active is what originally motivated me to lose weight.

My weight has been a struggle since childhood, with my weight rising and falling many, many times throughout my life. Looking back, it’s clear I struggled with portion control. Growing up, I was expected to never “waste food” and always clean my plate—regardless of my hunger. Food was at the center of my family life, and soon food became the center of my emotional life as I used it to cope with stress.

Working as a blood drive manager, I traveled a lot and needed to be physically active as part of the job. As I gained weight, my job became harder. I knew something needed to change. I tried countless methods to try to lose weight, from trendy low-calorie packaged meal plans to appetite suppressants. I was ready for something else.

Then one day, I connected with a healthcare professional online after seeing a television commercial for CONTRAVE. I was prescribed CONTRAVE along with diet and exercise changes. The oral dosing formula was also very convenient for someone like me who traveled for work as there was no need to refrigerate the medication.

I briefly switched to a weight loss injectable but it made me feel ill. I went back to CONTRAVE as soon as I could. Now, I’ve been taking CONTRAVE for a while and have maintained my healthy weight.

Family has been so important to me on my journey, and they’ve been so supportive every step of the way. I’m proud to be setting an example to my grandkids and passing on good messages about health and weight to my entire family.

I love that I’m able to be more active and do the things I love. After all, you can’t go horseback riding if you can’t get your butt up on the horse!
